A visit to The Houston Area Women’s Center

I arrive early for my interview at the Houston Area Women’s Center . I’m  welcomed by a sturdy looking woman holding court behind a glass window  who directs me  to sit  with the other visitors.   There is no doubt that the  children accompanying their mothers  here today  are happy to be waiting in the sanctity of this space . I can tell by  the  way the boy’s face  lights up as he walks in the door &  I can tell by her  smile , as the  girl  opens a back pack,  lifting out a book with a contented sigh.
